Last weekend Lollapalooza happened about a mile from my house.
There were 1,000s of extra people in Chicago's loop. As I struggled to get down the freaking sidewalk, I came to a realization. Living as a resident in a touristy part of town requires patience.
It takes patience to keep from pushing people out of the way as they slowly walk four abreast on a narrow sidewalk.
It takes patience to keep from screaming, "Please, MOVE your butts!"
It takes patience to keep from barreling into people when they stop in the middle of the sidewalk for no particular reason.
It takes patience to share.
But in the end, even if they don't understand simple sidewalk etiquette, I'm happy to share this fascinating, vibrant, captivating city with visitors.
Especially since just last year I was one of them.
Do you promise you'll never stop
FOR ABSOLUTELY NO CONCEIVABLE REASON
in the middle of the sidewalk in front of me?
